Literature and poetry have been instruments of human expression and creativity, in all cultures. The world also witnessed an age when literature and poetry occupied pride of position, similar to that now enjoyed by science and technology. Muslims as well as non-Muslims agree that The Quran is arabic literature par excellence - that it is the best arabic literature on the face of the earth. The Quran, challenges mankind in the following verses:

"And if ye are in doubt as to what We have revealed from time to time to Our servant, then produce a Sura like thereunto; and call your witnesses or helpers (If there are any) besides God, if your (doubts) are true.
But if ye cannot- and of a surety ye cannot- then fear the Fire whose fuel is men and stones,- which is prepared for those who reject Faith."

In 1580, the present day concept of ‘water cycle’ was discovered: water evaporates from the oceans and cools to form clouds. The clouds move inland where they rise, condense and fall as rain. This water gathers as lakes and streams and flows back to the ocean in a continuous cycle. The water cycle is described by the Quran in the following verses:

"Seest thou not that Allah sends down rain from the sky, and leads it through springs in the earth? Then He causes to grow, therewith, produce of various colours: then it withers; thou wilt see it grow yellow; then He makes it dry up and crumble away. Truly, in this, is a Message of remembrance to men of understanding."

• Finger tips can be used for identification
  Quran: Does man think We cannot assemble his bones? Yes . . . We are able to put together in perfect order the very tip of his fingers.
• Atoms are found in pairs
  Quran: Glory be to Allah, Who created in pairs all things that the earth produces, as well as their own (human) kind, and other things of which they have no knowledge.
• Honey is healing for mankind
  Quran: Comes from their (the bees) bellies a drink of varying colors, wherein is healing for human being. Verily in this is a sign for people who reflect.
• Separation of salt and sea water
  Quran: Verily He is the One Who has joined the two seas: this is palatable and sweet, and this is salty and bitter. And He made a barrier between the two of them, and a partition that is forbidden to be passed.
• Milk as a wholesome meal
  Quran: And verily for you in the cattle there is an instructive sign (lesson). We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies from between excretions and blood, pure milk palatable to the drinkers.
• Oceans have darkness under their surfaces
  Quran: Or as darkness in a vast, deep sea, there it covers waves, from above which are waves, from above which are clouds. Darkness on top of each other. If a man stretches out his hand, he can hardly see it. And whoever Allah does not make light for him, for him there is no light.
• Iron and steel
  Quran: And We sent down iron, in which is severe strength and benefits for mankind. Verily in this is a sign for people who reflect.
• Sun and Moon
  Quran: It is not permitted to the sun to catch up with the moon, nor the night outstrip the day. Each floats in an orbit.
• Creation of living creatures from water
  Quran: We made from water every living thing.
• Mountains have roots inside the earth
  Quran: Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, and the mountains as pegs?
