What is the Quran
The Quran is the very word of God, Almighty. A complete record of the exact words revealed by God through the Angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad. The Quran was memorized by Muhammad and his followers, dictated to his companions, and written down by scribes, who cross-checked it during the Prophet's lifetime. The Prophet was 40 years old when the Quran began to be revealed to him, and he was 63 when the revelation was completed. The language of the original message was Arabic. The Quran is divided into 114 chapters or Surahs. The Surahs are revelations given to Mohammed during his 23 years of “Prophethood” from 610 AD to 632 AD. Not one word of its 114 surahs has been changed over the centuries. The Quran is in every detail the same unique and miraculous text that was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad fourteen centuries ago. The Qur'an has not been expressed using any human's words. Its wording is letter for letter fixed by no one but Allah. The Quran is the principal source of every Muslim's faith and practice. It deals with all subjects that concern us as human beings, including wisdom, doctrine, worship and law, but its basic theme is the relationship between God and His creatures. At the same time, the Qur'an provides guidelines for a just society, proper human conduct and equitable economic principles. The Prophet Muhammad was the final Messenger of Allah to humanity, and therefore the Quran is the last Message which Allah has sent to us.
